Seeking to further market its new Bronco as an all-in competitor to the Jeep Wrangler while also jumping on the current trend of overlanding, Ford is promoting a slide-out tailgate accessory that promises to accommodate those who wish to sleep in the back of their new Bronco.
Four-door versions of the truck make the most of their square profile, offering 83 cubic feet of cargo area behind the front seats when equipped with a soft top. Ford’s marketing department has taken the leap and assumed some owners will want to camp out in their Bronco at the end of a day’s worth of wheeling, an idea not without merit.
Apparently, someone at Ford was gifted a Stanley FatMax tape measure for their birthday, declaring there is 6’6″ of room lengthwise from the back of the front seats to a closed tailgate. Deploying this slide-out tailgate apparently produces 8’9″ of sleeping room, provided one is content to doze diagonally.
